Kirkcaldy High Street
The Kirkcaldy High Street Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) is an exciting £1 million project to improve the town’s historic quarter.
Kirkcaldy High Street is cnow included within the Abbotsford and Central Kirkcaldy Conservation Area, one of 48 Conservation Areas across Fife, all of which have particular architectural or historic value. The scheme is funded by Historic Scotland, with match funding from Fife Council's Development Services.
The funding will be used in four key areas, to:
- Provide grants to renovate individual or groups of historic buildings
- Provide grants to businesses to improve their shopfronts
- Carry out improvements to wynds and closes
- Provide information and training for the repair and care of traditional buildings
Over the next five years, the projects delivered through CARS will seek to enhance the town’s historic character, making Kirkcaldy an even better place to live and visit.
